My Passion
" A small love letter to glow curves and comfort "
I can’t resist 80s interiors. They’re warm, playful and alive.
Where it started
It began when I was a kid, long before I even knew what “interior design” meant. My mum loved thrifting and flea markets, so our weekends were spent digging through boxes of “junk” that secretly looked like treasure to me.
We’d come home with a strange lamp, a curvy chair or a bright vase. And somehow she always found a way to make it work in our living room.
The home I grew up in
Our home was never minimal or perfectly coordinated. It was full of soft lamplight, curved furniture and colourful objects that didn’t match on paper, but felt right in real life.
There were patterned cushions on a round sofa, postcards taped to the wall and a coffee table that changed decoration every season.
Friends would walk in and say: “I’ve never seen a home like this, but it feels so cozy.”
That sentence stayed with me.
The feeling I kept chasing
As I grew up, I kept chasing that feeling. I started collecting photos of interiors with 80s energy :
- graphic rugs
- pastel kitchens
- weird lamps that look like sculptures
And I realised it wasn’t just nostalgia. It was a style that makes spaces feel fun, human, and a bit imperfect, in the best way.
Why Retro Nest exists
Retro Nest is my way of sharing this passion with you. Instead of scrolling through random inspiration, you can explore a small, curated world focused only on 80s-inspired décor.
Think rounded shapes, bold colours, playful details and ideas you can actually try at home. I want you to see a room, a colour or a shape and think : “I could do something like that in my own space.”
If this website gives you even one new idea, one corner you want to rearrange, or one object you want to hunt for at a flea market, then my lifelong 80s décor obsession has done its job.
